Errant Sleep

Updated: Mar 19, 2021

I can't sleep.

Or to be clearer, my dreams have dispersed and replaced by the bright artificial glow of my mobile.

It's 5:04am and all is as quiet as can be in a city.

Sleepy warmth escapes with each tap on the screen.

Eyes refocus. Sleep seeps out of them.

I should go back and rest. I tell myself.

Illogically I think forcing myself to go back 'to it' will magically transport me in front of a door marked 'Sleep'.

I sigh and keep typing my floating thought.

If nothing else, I have this.

It wasn't a wasted glow.
